YOU GET THE DOG YOU NEED, NOT THE DOG YOU WANT

unconditional love Mar 03, 2023

I have always grown up with dogs. My father was like an animal whisperer. Any stray dog, bird would always be attracted to him.

I remember the many beautiful family German Shepherds that were always part of my life. Caring for another living being is a wonderful way to practice compassion and unconditional love.

Naturally, when I became a parent I wanted my children to have the same experience I did.

With each dog we owned, there was a new level of learning.

Our first German shepherd Max was fiercely protective of me. He taught me that i needed to learn The language of dogs.

Our next dog Andy the Beagle, was a perfect companion for our young family. He was gentle, loving and an escape artist! We quickly learnt to lock the screen door.

We decided that we wanted a companion for Andy  and we wanted to rescue a dog. We started the search and Zac found us. A mixture of Greyhound, boxer, staffy ( i think). He was perfect.

But…..as the years went by he started to develop aggressive tendencies to other dogs and people so we did  the responsible thing and worked with a dog trainer. The recommendation was that he needed to be put down as he was extremely fear aggressive and could not be trained!

WHAT……. Clearly this was not an option! Our dogs are like our children. I decided I would read, watch videos, do anything I needed to do to train Zac and keep him safe.

11 years later he is still with us and my guardian. He now has a sister Zara,  a German shepherd.

Zac taught me my biggest lessons, PATIENCE and  UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

Lessons come in all forms and at that point in my life I needed to learn these and Zac agreed to teach me.

They say when you are going to get a dog, the one that is meant for you will find you.

This is the truth!

Just make sure you are open to receive.

Love,

Rina xx
